Free with Symposium registration, each workshop offers four CEUs; top-notch speakers
MOUNT LAUREL, NJ, Nov. 17, 2015—The Commission for Case Manager Certification announced three pre-conference learning sessions packed with practical presentations and panels discussions. The sessions feature industry thought leaders and case management experts and will take place Jan. 21, immediately prior to the opening session of the CCMC New World Symposium held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas January 21-23, 2016. Each of the three workshops is available to Symposium registrants at no additional charge.
The Commission created this inaugural national symposium as a collaborative effort to address an urgent workforce development need for well-prepared, ready professional case managers. Growing demand for case managers, arising from the demand for team-based care models and from implementation of the Affordable Care Act, drives the impetus to identify and prepare the future wave of qualified and knowledgeable case managers.
“Each of our pre-conference workshops brings keen, sustained focus to a topic of particular interest to case managers today,” says Patrice Sminkey, the Commission’s CEO. “They are structured to increase professional knowledge in this rapidly changing industry, advance individual career potential, and highlight emerging trends.”
Participants will earn an additional four continuing education credits by attending any one of the three pre-conference workshops. The sessions are:
Trends & Awareness: To tweet, or not to tweet? What are the priorities and pitfalls for using social media to advance your career? This workshop will enhance understanding of current trends in communication, ethics, privacy and security that affect case management practice. Participants will learn compelling communication techniques for becoming more effective agents in a complex health environment.
The Wide World of Professional Case Management: Case managers work in hospitals, health plans, home health, workers’ compensation, behavioral health, rehabilitation and a range of allied health settings. With demand for qualified case managers exceeding supply, new career opportunities emerge every year. This session includes an overview of the changing roles and trends in case management, and includes a distinguished panel of experts from across the case management continuum.
Workers’ Compensation: This workshop will focus on emerging trends in this rapidly changing area. The session will include discussion of data mining for benchmarks to validate case management, the increasing use of medical and recreational marijuana in the workforce and for treatment of chronic pain, and how social media and other forms of electronic communication can be used in the new era of enhanced privacy and security requirements.
The CCMC New World Symposium features nationally-recognized thought leaders and compelling, rubber-meets-the-road sessions for professional and board-certified case managers.
