Job Task Analysis

The Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC®) has conducted the 2024 job task analysis study of the case manager practice to update the content of the Certified Case Manager (CCM®) examination. Data Recognition Corporation (DRC), an experienced provider of assessment solutions, has worked with CCMC on the analysis. The study aims to validate the core knowledge areas that are important for the continued certification of case managers. A panel of experts  proposed updates to the content outline of the CCM examination, to become effective in August 2025. The case manager community validated the proposed updates by providing information related to any additional core knowledge content areas that should be included in the exam by responding to a survey. The previous Job Task Analysis (previously known as the Role and Function Study) was conducted in 2019, to view the findings for that, please see this page.

The August 2025 exam will be based on the new blueprint which will include revised knowledge domains. The new blueprint will be released to the public by the end of November 2024 to provide exam candidates ample time to prepare. The April 2025 exam will be consistent with the knowledge domains from the 2019 job task analysis and will be the last exam window with that content.

Results for the August 2025 Exam:  Candidates taking the August 2025 exam will NOT receive immediate pass/no pass notification because a standard-setting study must be conducted whenever a new exam blueprint is introduced to establish a cut score for the exam. Candidates will be notified via email that the results have been uploaded to their CCMC account within sixty (60) days of the end of the testing window.  Notification regarding exam results is in alignment with certification best practices related to the implementation of a new exam blueprint.
